My Motivation:
To become mindful in all areas of my life, but particularly my eating habits. To reduce stress in my life physically and mentally, and for my "real age" score (realage.com) to be MUCH lower than my chronological age.
To continue to implement and APPLY simple lifestyle changes that will improve my overall health. I have the tools and the knowledge-- so just do it.

  About Me:
I'm a law enforcement dispatcher so I've got a sedentary job and a lot of stress to accompany it. Love my job but hate what it's done to my body. Used to be in the military where I was always having my weight/appearance evaluated, so I know what it's like to be healthy and what I'm supposed to do to get there again. I'm self conscious about the extra pounds I've put on since that other lifetime, so I'm going to make some changes in my life.
  Starting Weight: 255 lbs.

Hi I was wondering how things are going for you. I am in maintanence now and it is a little easier but it still requires a lot of focus for me. This weekend has been a rough one for me. I notice myself falling back into old habits and have to catch myself . It is easy for me to stray just a little and gain a few pounds in no time. I wonder if it will ever get to be easy. Maybe very thin people always live on the edge like this. Take care, and good luck on your journey. Wendy

You did not offend me by your comment, It is just a difficult situation. It is not as if the whole family is waiting for me to have dinner with them, infact, most times it is several hours after they have eaten when I get there. Even if I tell my mother-in-law that I have already eaten, she continues to go to all the trouble of getting everything back out of the fridge and starting to warm it all up. And it is not like she wants to spend time with me, because usually after she has made sure that I have plenty of food and something to drink, she goes in the other room and I sit in the kitchen by myself.... The whole household is overweight, and I am truely begining to see why. I gained 75lbs after marrying into that family. And I am the least overweight of them all.

I'm still here. I have been staying back just a little on this site. I am becoming much more involved on Sparkpeople.com. I'm not sure who from this site told me about it, but boy has it made a difference. I am in a Biggest Loser Contest on that site. My team is really kickin' butt, too. We are in our 3rd week of 12. I have a goal of 25 pounds in the 12 week contest. We have to post our intake of food, water, veggies, fruits and of course exercise every single day. We get a certain amount of points for each. I have 9 other girls on my team. We have a weekly weigh in as well. A lot of fun. Anyway, I will post my stuff at the end of the month here. I am much more motivated now. I still love all the people on this site. I just need a little extra push. I really wish this site had more contests to keep us going. Just a thought. Thanks for checking up on me. By the way, I have not had any wine in over 3 weeks. I am amazed at the difference in my not consuming any late night snacks. That was always my problem. You were so right when you told me "I have to earn it first."

You are really doing this weight loss thing right. I read the post you wrote on the 9th; you are adjusting calories and tweaking foods. I see you taking this thing all the way down to goal weight with that type of attitude. We constantly need to mix things up, change what we eat and the # of calories. One day eat more and then eat less a few days, etc. It is wise not to go below 1000 a day, your body tends to hang on to all it gets. Eat several times a day. smaller meals, you will keep the metabolism going all day. And get plenty of rest. Just my 2 cents worth.... you are doing awesome, good luck and best to you always. Wendy

Daisy I am so excited for you, down 43 pounds. You are a motivation for me. I know that it’s possible, you are doing it. Need to get back in to it. But I am going to get things right with me first. Keep up the great work. : )

Hello Daisy. I read one of your comments to another member and I must say I like your straight forward approach and encouragement you give. YES, we can sugar coat it or we can realize the truth. The truth is when you make good choices each day you get good results. When you make bad choices you get no results. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and good luck on your ongoing journey. Wendy

Not to worry. I have been under the weather for the past week. I think I logged in to the site at times, but must not have even looked at my journal & comments section. Sorry. I think I was in lah-lah land. :-) Anyway, I feel much better and am ready to take your advice to heart. I have NOT earned my wine on the weekends. I really needed to hear that. As hard as it is, I need to put my health first. I bought a new Turbo Jam video set online and am waiting for it to be delivered. I have a small baby (6 months) and I have not been able to take advantage of my gym membership. He is very fussy when he gets tired. I hope the videos will help me get past my hump. Good news, I did not gain over the week because I have not eaten. Too sick to care. Again, thanks for giving it to me straight. Sometimes I really need a kick in the pants. Good luck this week...

Thank you so much for your kind words. It means more to me than you could possibly know. I have all the tools to lose weight, I just need to use them. I will take your advice and log in daily with my journaling. I will make them for me to see only. I will also record everything I eat. I am going to be seeing my best friend over New Year's Eve and I am dreading it. She has lost a lot of weight and here I am doing nothing. I never thought she would be able to do it. I actually have done really well this week. It's a start, right! The main thing for me is the bad weekends. I do so enjoy my wine. I did not have any last weekend and I can already tell I have made progress. Let me ask you, do you eat really healthy and count your calories, or do you just stay within your calorie range for the day? Sometimes it is hard for me to go gang-busters with the diet AND exercise. I am currently just focusing on what I put in my mouth. November 1st I have told myself I will add the exercise. What do you think?

No, it doesn't. I wish it did. What I'm trying to do is see how many calories I actually burn in a whole day so I can see if I'm eating enough. I haven't really seen a weight loss since I've joined this site and I think that it might be because I'm not eating enough and my body is just holding on to everything. What I've been doing is just taking my heart rate every time I change and activity and then the calorie burn changes based off of that. It's probably based on a 150 pound woman, so I'll probably look for a site that will show me how to subtract it for a 142 pound woman. Thanks for responding!
