|     I am almost 43, a mom of two teens. Ex-college volleyball player, who still loves to play, but at over 30 pounds heavier than those days, it is AWFUL. The pounds have crept up on me over the years... working out isn't enough to downsize like it used to be. I particularly need to change the "celebratory" type eating and drinking I do way too often (loaded nachos and beer(x3) to watch the game for example). "Comfort Food" every night after a long day at work. Sheesh! I would like to find my waist once again. |

|     Don't forget to pay yourself, for every mile you log throw a buck in a jar and when you get to that goal weight you go out and spend that money on you! My daughter is 14 and I sometimes wonder if she will make it to 15! :-) You are really doing great so keep fighting (the boxing gloves). 35 mile bike ride awesome! | Posted By:   bigred1 on 7/11/08 | |     you sound exactly like me. i love working out i'd do it all day long my down fall is eating! i love food all kinds and my portion size is an issue. i also don't have that little voice in my head that says STOP YOU ARE FULL. i just keep eating! good luck! | Posted By:   jenni_belle on 6/26/08 | |     Even though I didn't lose any weight this week, at least I'm holding steady. I know for a fact that I fluctuate in weight 3-5 pounds certain times of my female month...
I was victorious with the last birthday party. Instead of three pieces, I had three forkfuls, that's much better! And, instead of pizza, I had a shrimp salad. Workouts are right on track, I've gone jogging twice this week, done two hours of Tae-Bo, and added some light biking and lifting. But, I have always loved working out, so... back to my problem areas. If I can get through this week with fairly sucessfully with my diet, I know I will see the scale reflect it. | | Posted By:   monavie on 6/26/08 | |     have fun at the gym! i think sleep overs can be combated with low fat popcorn and sherbert. as for the cake and probablly pizza, right...well does that really taste as good as skinny feels??? i have to stop and ask myself that question a million times a day! i'm waiting for my hubby to get home and we are going to the gym tonight to play some Pickelball. the YMCA management has issued a challenge to all of us players! I really don't think there is much of a challenge there! haha. I'll most likely be loged on again later tonight but for sure tomorrow. laters!! | Posted By:   jenni_belle on 6/19/08 | |     Thanks for the encouraging comment!!! I know exactly how you feel about the celebratory eating! I am the same way. The thing that keeps me from eating too much at home is that I have the scale in my kitchen next to the fridge! so every time i go in there to get a snack...or think i want a snack i step on the scale then i get discusted about the number i see then i don't eat anything and i get a bottle of water instead. it sounds obsessive and crazy it really helps! I am really hoping to see the 140's next week! I got down to 151 this morning! Very exciting! | Posted By:   jenni_belle on 6/19/08 | |     Well, workouts are going great. I am running longer distances, and the lifting is going great. If anyone out there has not done the Tae-Bo workout with the bands, it is a MOTHER: an excellent workout. The downside to last week, is the eating part of my life, where I always struggle. My son's 12th birthday bash was last Saturday. Do you think I held back on chowing down pizza with the kids at 5pm, and again (cold) at 11:30pm before bed? Absolutely not! What about the ice-cream birthday cake from Dairy Queen? Of course, I helped myself to exactly one piece a day for three days in a row! What a loser! I did it happily too... until my week was up and it was time to get on the scale again. I am really struggling with the mental part of this thing. It seems like if I have bad stuff in the house, I have no will-power at all, and don't even think about stuffing food in my face. It's all a part of that celebratory eating I knew I would have to deal with when I joined, saying to myself: "Hey, it's a birthday party! Let's eat!" Just like I have said in the past, "Hey, it's Friday night, let's eat!" Or... "Man, I had a stressful day and it's late. Let's eat!" GRRRR. I am going to TRY to change my "celebrations" from eating to something else, maybe a bubble bath, or some flavored tea, anything rather than picking up a dang fork and glass. I feel like an in-shape fat person, which is wrong on a whole lot of levels. AND, I am playing in a sand volleyball tournament on the 28th, which I want to WIN (for cash!), and I was hoping to weigh much less for my partners' sake. I am not going to give up though, and stop writing. I have comitted to being totally honest, and maybe looking back on what I write will help me break some patterns in my life and deal with the emotional side of why I eat too much. Reading everyone else's journal entries has really helped too. Have a great day. | | Posted By:   monavie on 6/19/08 | |     GREAT JOB JOGGING! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! | Posted By:   jenni_belle on 6/12/08 | |     It's been a week, and I've lost two pounds. That is great for me. I was able to make some healthy choices: I cooked up two different batches of vegetable soup, which I love to eat, but, having it on hand when I get hungry has helped a lot. Pre-planning meals is going to have to be key for me. Also, Monday I had a great workout: jogged for 32 minutes without stopping, then walked/jogged 40 minutes back. I haven't run that far in a long time. I also rode in the Tour of Lakes bike ride last Saturday for 35 miles, without a problem. YES! | | Posted By:   monavie on 6/11/08 | |     As I actually pay to join something to help myself lose weight, I am hoping I will be more successful than I have recently. I am excited though, which comes from a new start, where at least I feel as though I've taken the first step! | | Posted By:   monavie on 6/05/08 |
