|     Well it my two year anniversary of being on this site. It has truly been a great assitance to me. I am not sure that I would have stayed with my diet changes or exercise program without it. There is a lot to be said for logging in daily and seeing exactly what you have eaten and have accomplished with exercise month to month. It is a real motivator for me to look back and see that I had taken the time to exercise each day. While I have had problems losing the last 10 pounds, I am so much healthier than I was two years ago. And I definitely look way better in my clothes. The real gain has been the permanent change in my habits. After two years, it is no longer a diet, but it has evolved into lifestyle change. Fast and processed foods are very rare parts of my diet as is red meat(you have to give yourself a treat occasionally). Instead, there are lots of vegetables, fruits, fish and chicken.
Those changes, combined with exercise, have gotten me completely off of high blood pressure meds and my cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides are excellent.
I guess the moral to the story is that permanent change is possible. It's not necessarily easy and is definitely not quick, but anyone can do it if you are willing to be committed. The people I have seen succeed on this site are the ones who consistently log on daily. The only thing I miss is the lack of journal entries. When I first started there was a lot of give and take. It was motivational, educational and interesting to see how others were doing and the tools they were using to suceed. Having a community to lose weight with has been shown to increase success. Hopefully, as time goes by people will start feeling comfortable to log in and discuss their day and their struggles and sucesses. Everyone have a great week.

|     I have been very bad about journaling and tracking my exercise and calories for the last two weeks which is the first time in about 2 years. But I am back now, and after May 16th, hopefully my life will slow down somewhat. On May 1st, we have 12 Eagle Scouts celebrating their Court of Honor. What an achievement for the scouts, and what a way for my husband and I to retire as scouters. We have been involved in scouts for the last 20 years so stepping back is a little sweet and sad as the same time. On May 16th, my youngest graduates from high school. So the empty nest syndrome may really hit by then, but right now I am just too exhausted with all the planning for both events to think on it too hard. Everyone have a great week. |

|     Congrats. I am similiar to you. I just turned 40 and am constantly preaching to my two boys about eating right yet I am overweight. I love doing activities with them but over the last few years have steadily gained weight. I just started with this site today to hopefulyl keep me in line and motivated! |

|     Today is my 51st birthday. Yeah! But what is even more important is that I am almost 60lb lighter than two years ago and so much more fit.
Today I did two hours of Jazzercise and it felt great. In my 20's, I used to run and I remember what it felt like to crank out 6 miles and not even feel short of breath. I getting back to that form again.
I totally believe that this site has made the difference. I have lost weight before and have tried to get physically fit on so many occassions. This time, however, it has stuck and I have kept the weight off and I am really enjoying exercising again.
Everyone have a great week!

|     Thank you for your kind words. one of the best things i have done for him is making him get a bloodwork test done. The dieting stuff i have done has lowered his cholesterol and tri.'s. He would say fat is good for u. i changed the type of fat. he didn't notice.. hence the good test. have a great day. |

|     Due to the weather, we have been stuck in the house for two days now as the drifting snow and bitter wind chill has shut everything down. This morning it is -30 degrees below zero. I can't get to my aerobic class and going outside is completely out of the question. So that means I have to hit the treadmill or exercise bike. While this isn't terrible, it is boring. I am so ready for spring and it is only January. My friend emailed me this little poem and it really sums up this winter
It's winter in Nebraska
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour...
At thirty-five below!
Oh, how I love Nebraska
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter,
And your nose gets frozen shut!
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Nebraska,
I'm frozen to the damn ground!
Every one have a great week |

|     Alright, way too much Christmas baking in the last two weeks. Well it really wasn't the baking that got me into trouble, it was the eating part. I have gained three pounds in the last 10 days. Thank goodness I have been exercising or it would have been a lot worse. Back to watching calories and to my regular routine before things start getting out of hand. A safe and happy New Year to you all. |

|     A Very Merry Christmas to you all! Well! Quite the winter storm is raging on the plains of Nebraska. We are all cuddled in at home with the famiily and we will certainly not be going anywhere for a couple of days as there are 2-3 foot drifts everywhere. I hope everyone has had a safe and wonderful Christmas with family and friends. If you wondered what a blizzard on the plains (just like Little House on the Prairie)would look like check out the pictures at the bottom of my home page. Burr! |

|     A winter storm has blown through our area leaving behind 12 inches of snow and some large drifts. The wind is still blowing and the temperature is only in the teens. Due the weather, I have had to sleep at the hospital the last two nights to be sure that I could make it in for my shifts in the ICU. Things here at work have been very busy and the last 72 hours have just blurred into one long day. Consequently, following my diet and getting in some exercise hasn't gone very well. Hopefully, I will make it home tonight, workout, and get on the scale in the morning. Everyone have a good week. |

|     I am talking in a whisper this morning, but I can still shout GO HUSKIES! Last night in Lincoln, my son's football team repeated in taking Class B State Championship. It was a great game against at very good team, Omaha Skutt, who also went into the game undefeated. Our guys forced a lot of exciting turn overs and had some very creative offensive plays. In the end it was 34 to 21. I am so happy for all the boys. It has been a long season that started in August. Well done guys! |
